FULGOR
Role: Personal project
Disciplines: Industrial Design, CMF, Fabrication & Prototyping
Scope: 4 weeks
Completed: Winter 2023
Fulgor is a kinetic hanging lamp that embodies how people create a protective layer that prevents others from getting to know us on a deeper level. When people turn it on, this lamp opens at the bottom, letting out the light reflected by the golden interior. This action represents the entire process of getting to know people, gaining self-confidence, and thus being able to let out our true selves. With Fulgor, the primary intention is to create an atmosphere of openness, radiating light from the inside even when it is closed, and making an experience bloom from the moment one turns it on until the moment one switches it off.
Design development.
Asymmetrical Prism
Fulgor consists of various irregular planes that all together, create an engaging composition full of surprises that play with the idea of diversity in society. Besides, metaphorically speaking, this prism represents how people develop a shield around them that prevents their inner light from shining.
Form exploration
From a single punching toy to a full-functioning kinetic lamp, Fulgor has been an experience since the day it was first developed. This process entailed combining various form studies to secure the best and future-focused approach to the design while keeping the meaning intact.
From an idea to a real-life product…
