RENOVO
Role: Personal project
Disciplines: Industrial Design, Strategic Research & Rendering
Scope: 5 weeks
Completed: Fall 2022
Born from an interest in innovative 3D-printed materials, Renovo was created as a night lamp made entirely from locally sourced, sustainable, and recyclable 3D-printed soil and seeds that contribute to the planet and your wallet. This durable soil mixture helps with air purification, thanks to the plants you can grow by spraying water on the lamp’s body. From offices to homes, RENOVO is the perfect addition to any interior space to provide a new and different sense of freshness, warmth, and comfort.
Concept development.
3D-printed Soil
Based on the idea of 3D-printed soil and other components as binders, these designs express a new approach to imagining what one can do with soil. By combining architectural/structured shapes with organic material, Vector was born to juxtapose reality and imagination.
From imagination to reality.
To bring these designs to life, the chosen ideas went through various CAD processes, allowing me to look at them in virtual reality and achieve a more accurate visualization.
Material exploration
To better understand this material, I started creating some tests to understand the best results with it. Therefore, some small prototypes were made using only soil with high percentages of clay, binding components, and chia seeds.
